Planning Consent for IED Chapter IV (WID) Compliant Renewable Energy Facility

We are pleased to announce that we have secured planning consent for Merthyr Biomass Ltd for a renewable energy facility fuelled by waste wood at their site near Merthyr Tydfil. The facility will be fully-compliant with Chapter IV of the Industrial Emissions Directive (formerly covered by the Waste Incineration Directive (WID)) and will produce renewable heat energy from Grade C waste wood received from companies operating in the local area.

We are pleased to announce that we have secured planning consent for Derwen Recycling Ltd for 24 hour operation of their Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) at Neath Abbey Wharf, Neath. Following a BS4142:2014 noise assessment, the preparation of a noise management plan and an operational noise assessment, Neath Port Talbot CBC were satisfied that the development would not result in any unacceptable impacts on the amenity of nearby residents or the local environment. Approval Received for Bespoke Environmental Permit for End-of-Life Vehicle Storage, Depollution and Dismantling Facility in Avonmouth

We are pleased to announce that we have secured a bespoke environmental permit for PR Recycling Ltd for an End-of-Life Vehicle storage, depollution and dismantling facility at their new site on Severn Road, Avonmouth. Due to the nature of the operation and the site's proximity to the Severn Estuary SSSI and to Water Voles, a European Protected Species, we needed to prepare evidence to clearly demonstrate that the development would not cause any unaccetable impacts on the local fauna and flora. In addition we needed to prepare a comprehensive Fire Prevention Plan for the development, which was approved without modification. Defra Publishes New RDF Definition

As of the 20th November, an official definition has been published by Defra to clarify what is expected of waste described as Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF).  Defra has worked closely with a range of operators with an interest in the RDF sector to develop the definition with the aim of helping the Environment Agency better regulate the RDF sector. Welsh Government Opens Consultation on Landfill Disposals Tax

The Welsh Government yesterday (24/02/15) launched a consultation as to how they should use funds generated by a new "Landfill Disposals Tax", a proposed replacement to the existing Landfill Tax from April 2018.  The new devolved power under the Wales Act 2014 will allow Wales to design and shape a new tax to reflect Welsh priorities and needs.  The consultation is open until 19th May 2015.
