Lighting Design for Bat Sensitive Areas

With the increasing focus on the ecological impacts of developments, artificial lighting is becoming increasingly important in areas where bats are present.

This is reflected in several major projects where we were recently commissioned to undertake Bat Light Spill Assessments, develop mitigation strategies and produce lighting schemes that preserve dark corridors.  We support the assessment with light spill contours, pseudo colour plots and ray-tracing imagery as required.

Our assessments are carried out in accordance with prevailing guidance and notably, Guidance Note 08/18: Bats and artificial lighting in the UK produced jointly by the Bat Conservation Trust and the Institute of Lighting Professionals.
